Not So Sweet Home Alabama

Yes, it's me, AngieDoe, and yes, I'm really stuck in Alabama for the ENTIRE summer.
With a job that doesn't start until the 7th of June, one must find something to do with their time, and as good as "lounging around the house"all day sounds, it get's old, for me at least, after about 4 days.
Therefore, I decided, after be inspired by the movie Julie & Julia, to start a blog of my very own.

SO, This is just me attempting to successfully survive an entire summer in this hell hole that the map of the United States calls ALABAMA......

Enjoy,

Good Food, Good Company

Proverbs 13:12 says "Hope deferred makes the heat sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life."

Well the picture above is lastnight's dinner. It's an Omaha steak burger topped with grilled onions and mushrooms, mashed sweet potatoes, and steamed brocolli. I made it for my mother and I, but come to find out, my mother went out to dinner lastnight, so I was forced to dine alone. I was a little disappointed because she called home and I told her I had made dinner, but she was with a co-worker who wanted to go out to eat. So, they went out to eat, and I was left with the company of me, myself, and I. They never disappoint.

I guess I was hoping that she would walk through the door and say, as she always does when something is cooking, "Oooo something smells good!" Even though I most likely wouldn't have shown it on my face, it would've made me a little happy.
Anyway, the food turned out REALLY good. Imma definitely have to make that again once I get back to school. Tahkina should be pleased. She LOVES onions :). I miss her...

Too Funny!!!

Ok soooo...I just love Ludacris' fairly new song Sex Room feat. Trey Songz. I just saw the video for it, and it does do the song justice. It's verrrry sexy, but it's also too funny!! I loved it! In case you haven't already seen it, check it out. Here's the link:

Video: Sex Room - Ludacris feat. Trey Songz

My tunes for today: Warren G feat. Nate Dogg-Regulate

The post I put up about the Breezy Excursion fitteds made me wanna hear Regulate so here it is people, in case you had no idea what I was talking about. This song is pretty dope. Real smooth. If you're a smoker, try blazin up to this track. you won't be disappointed lol.

G-Funk On a Fitted!

I was on one of my favorite sights blindiforthekids.com and I came across these hot fitted caps that Breezy Excursion came out with for the summer. The first cap was inspired by the classic letterman jacket, wit a "B" on the front. The back of it reads 'Present & future". The second one is my favorite. It used the Raiders logo for inpiration and is entitled "Regulators", just as it reads. The back holds the phrase "Mount Up". I love this second cap because it pays homage to the song Regulate, by Warren G and Nate Dogg. I love that song! man these hats make part of me wish I was still a full tomboy. I would rock these joints in a min!!!!

Chocolate Thunder from Alabama!!!!

Pierre Conielle said "Real joy comes not from ease or riches or from the praise of men, but from doing something worthwhile."

Well after lastnight's Laker game, I needed some real joy. If you didn't already know, the Lakers lost to the Suns lastnight and now the series is now tied 2-2. I tried to make myself an omelette this morning for breakfast, but that turned out looking about as good as Michael Jackson's 18th nose job....ok, sorry Michael. you know I love you. R.I.P.

So since my breakfast wasn't worthwhile, I decided to make something that's not exactly the healthiest dish I could've prepared, but that contained an ingredient that brings me real joy...CHOCOLATE! If you really know me, then you know that I believe there is no such thing as too much chocolate. So, I decided to make my own version of Outback Steakhouse's Chocolate Thunder from Down Under. Instead, it's the Chocolate Thunder from Alabama. In a way, it's still down under...I guess, since Alabama is in the south lol.

It's basically a warm brownie (this one had walnuts...Mmmmm), topped with vanilla ice cream (Blue Bell ice cream), and hot fudge (Hershey's chocolate syrup). It was really easy to make, and let me tell you, it was DEFINITELY worthwhile. :)

My tunes for today: Nefertiti (center of the universe) - chico debarge

I saw Chico DeBarge perform a medley of songs from his newest album Addiction, and surprisingly, I loved what I heard. So I been rockin to some of the tracks all day. Here's one cut that I really like - Nefertiti. Enjoy ;)

My tunes for today :Mos Def Brown-Sugar (Fine)

I'm sure we're all familiar with this song. Enjoy! :)

Sickness...

Trey Songz or Chris Brown: Who's video was sicker??? I personally think Trey Songz's video for 'Invented Sex' was sicker but I'll let you be the judge of that. You can go to YouTube to watch Trey Songz's video but  in case you haven't seen what all the hoopla is about, here's the link for Chris Brown's new video.

Video Debut: Chris Brown - No Bullshit

It Could All Be So Simple

"Simplicity provides a fine line between eloquence and plainess."

Ok, so I was watching Brown Sugar today, and that quote inspired my lunch. I decided to keep it simple today. The pic above is chicken and four cheese raviolli topped with garlic sauteed baby bella mushrooms and olive oil. And YES I did make it myself. However, that isn't wine...it's cran-grape juice...lol Shoutout to Renita!!!!

TLC??? How about RLC...???

When I say RLC I mean Respect, Love, and Consideration. Chew on that for a minute if you will.
I don't know ANYONE in Huntsville, Alabama except my uncle, my mother, and my mother's boyfriend. I suppose my mother feels bad about this. So, with her being the loving, God-fearing mother that she is, she "suggested" that I go to the youth revival at her church tonight to meet other people around my age. Now, if you know my mother, you know that a "suggestion" isn't a really a suggestion. Meaning, I am now obligated to go.
At first I was totally against attending the revival. Then after some careful thoughts about my life and the person that I am blessed to call "mom", I decided to give it a go. I had to remind myself of all the love, care, and generosity she has thrown my way these past 20 years. A quote I ran across also helped.

"The most powerful lessons about ethics and morality...come from family life where people treat one another with respect, consideration, and love." - Neil Kurshan

This will be my proverb of the day. Since I do love and respect my mother, it was wrong of me to immediately discard the idea of attending the revival without even considering it first. I may actually learn something tonight, and since you do, after all, learn something new everyday, this looks to be just the ticket. Meeting someone would be a plus.
The revival lasts 3 days. I guess I could at least show up ONE day ;)
