Not So Sweet Home Alabama

Yes, it's me, AngieDoe, and yes, I'm really stuck in Alabama for the ENTIRE summer.
With a job that doesn't start until the 7th of June, one must find something to do with their time, and as good as "lounging around the house"all day sounds, it get's old, for me at least, after about 4 days.
Therefore, I decided, after be inspired by the movie Julie & Julia, to start a blog of my very own.

SO, This is just me attempting to successfully survive an entire summer in this hell hole that the map of the United States calls ALABAMA......

Enjoy,
-AngieDoe

My Tunes for Today: Glenn Lewis - Fall Again

So, I totally forgot about this song!!! It was brought back to my memory while watching Maid In Manhattan today. I love this joint!!!! Enjoy :)

Confused Much??

Larry Leissner said "If confusion is the first step to knowledge, I must be a genius." I DEFINITELY feel him on that one. It seems that when it comes to guys, I'm ALWAYS confused. They must have all went to the same class on 'How to be mysterious' because none of them are ever straight forward with me. What's the big deal?? Stop beating around the bush and be an adult...

Anyways, this one particular guy was the author of my confusion a couple months ago. It hit me pretty hard because I wrote a poem about all of the questions I had floating around in my head. So if you wanna read it, here it is...

21 Questions

Does he notice me?
Do I come off intriguing
When I enter his mental?
Does the scent of my perfume
Caress his nostrils even after I’m gone?
I’d like to think it does
Causing the curve of my hips
To gently massage his brain
Night and day, Night and day
Does he picture my lips?
Setting in perfect placement
As they part to reveal my smile?
Does it spur him to pick up his phone
And start to dial?
Does every coil and curl of my hair
Glistening in the sunlight
All of a sudden, give him the urge
To yank, and grab, and pull?
Well, that’s quite alright
Do my eyes slowly submerge into his
As I gaze upon them?
Causing his breathing to deepen
And his knees to weaken?
Does my stride, so smooth
Walk in and out of his dreams
So real, that he yearns to follow?
Well then I’d tell him,
Baby, if it does…
Come and get me
I’m waitin for ya ;)

BIG Dreams...

Ok, so those who know me, know that I've always been on the heavy side when it comes to my weight, although recently I've been told by more than expected that I'm not that BIG. Well recently just doesn't cut it, and has been beat out by what I've been told my whole life; that I'm a BIG girl. I suppose that has sunken in. Though I love my curves and my hourglass shaped figure, I can't help but to want to tone it down a bit. I've been this way my whole life, and now I think it's time for a change.

In high school, I lost about 35 pounds and a couple of sizes, but 5 years later, Im just about back to where I was before. Therefore I have decided to create a goal of going beyond the 35 pound mark, because clearly it was too easy for me to slip right back to my pre-loss weight. I know this will be hard, but I'm up for the challenge. I find myself going back to a quote by Pamela Starr, which states:

"Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream preceeds the goal."

I've decided not to concern myself with how large this goal may be. I'm just going to do it, and forget the rest since my dream will preceed my goal anyway lol. Regardless, I'm not the worrying type.

So to start off my weight loss, I have purchased the Hip-Hop Abs DVD set. Now this set is great because it doesn't just come with the DVDs. It includes all kinds of guides, and tips to help you reach your goal. After week 1, I've lost 2 pounds. I suppose that if I would've gone a strict one-cracker-a-day diet that my weight loss would be more after 7 days, but I'm not starving myself. I'm currently on the journey of trying to change the way I eat, with comes along with fighting the Fast Food Battle...smh lol. But anyways, just wanted to give an update of what I've been doing with my life. Dream BIG folks!!! :)

My tunes for the day: Ron Artest - Champions REAL SONG (DOWNLOAD LINK)

Speaking of being VICTORIOUS...if you didn't already know, I am a die hard Lakers fan, and they just happen to be THE WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!!!! Oww Owwww!!!! Ron Artest, a forward for the Lakers made a song about being the champions. I thought it was gonna be butt at first, but it's actually not that bad...lol Check it out ;)

Another Lesson in Patience

Ok so, it's been a while, I know, I know. I'm terribly sorry, but I've stared working now, so I don't have as much time on my hands as I did before.

Anyway, since I've been working, I've come across another instance in my life, where patience has showed its face and is beeging me to use it. I've never started a journey before, where something goes wrong at every single step I take. This is taking a toll on me, and causing me to very much dislike my job. Well that is how things are going as of now. It's far too much for me to sit up and type, but of course I need to use patience.

A French Proverb says, "Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet."

Once everything FINALLY starts acting right, I'm sure I will start to enjoy my job. After all, it will look great on my resume :) I'm trying to stay motivated so in the end, I will come out victorious...Pray for me...lol

My tunes for today: Jill Scott - Come See Me

Moms played this in the car yesterday, and I just fell in love with it. Now it is for the 18 & up crowd, but it's still fire none the less. Enjoy :)

sTUp1D 9IrL...

Josh Billings said "Common sense is the knack of seeing things as they are, and doing things as they ought to be done."

The pic above is lastnight's dinner. No I didn't make it this time. I was treated to Longhorn Steakhouse by my mother, and what you're looking at is a blue cheese crusted 8 oz. sirloin, mashed potatoes w/ butter, and bacon-wrapped scallops.

When I look at this picture, the only thing that comes to mind is "what were you thinking Angie!!??" Now if you know me, you know that I'm lactose intolerant. Now any other time I would choose to indulge in this delectable delight, I would take my lacataid fast-act pill and be fine, but this time, I have no idea where my mind was, because I neglected to take my pill before I enjoyed my meal.

I woke up this morning to a stomach that was doing back-flips, cartwheels and wind mills, and that's ALL imma say smh. I suppose I failed to see the blue cheese for what it was...CHEESE!!!! I just looked at it as a 'flavor enhancer' for my steak. Because of that, I didn't do what needed to be done (take my pill). Anyway, LESSON LEARNED!!

Dahc Christian feat. AngieDoe

So I have this friend Dahc Christian. He is a phenomenal rapper from Temple Hills, MD. In case you didn't know, that's in Prince Georges County, MD, where I'm from. I actually got to do a song with him to the track of the Alicia Keys joint Unthinkable, which should be on his upcoming mixtape. I don't think I sound that good but everyone else says I do, so I will let you guys hear it for yourself. Here's the link for a slideshow I had to do about him for my MASC203 class.

Good Food, Good Company

Proverbs 13:12 says "Hope deferred makes the heat sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life."

Well the picture above is lastnight's dinner. It's an Omaha steak burger topped with grilled onions and mushrooms, mashed sweet potatoes, and steamed brocolli. I made it for my mother and I, but come to find out, my mother went out to dinner lastnight, so I was forced to dine alone. I was a little disappointed because she called home and I told her I had made dinner, but she was with a co-worker who wanted to go out to eat. So, they went out to eat, and I was left with the company of me, myself, and I. They never disappoint.

I guess I was hoping that she would walk through the door and say, as she always does when something is cooking, "Oooo something smells good!" Even though I most likely wouldn't have shown it on my face, it would've made me a little happy.
Anyway, the food turned out REALLY good. Imma definitely have to make that again once I get back to school. Tahkina should be pleased. She LOVES onions :). I miss her...

Too Funny!!!

Ok soooo...I just love Ludacris' fairly new song Sex Room feat. Trey Songz. I just saw the video for it, and it does do the song justice. It's verrrry sexy, but it's also too funny!! I loved it! In case you haven't already seen it, check it out. Here's the link:

Video: Sex Room - Ludacris feat. Trey Songz

My tunes for today: Warren G feat. Nate Dogg-Regulate

The post I put up about the Breezy Excursion fitteds made me wanna hear Regulate so here it is people, in case you had no idea what I was talking about. This song is pretty dope. Real smooth. If you're a smoker, try blazin up to this track. you won't be disappointed lol.

G-Funk On a Fitted!

I was on one of my favorite sights blindiforthekids.com and I came across these hot fitted caps that Breezy Excursion came out with for the summer. The first cap was inspired by the classic letterman jacket, wit a "B" on the front. The back of it reads 'Present & future". The second one is my favorite. It used the Raiders logo for inpiration and is entitled "Regulators", just as it reads. The back holds the phrase "Mount Up". I love this second cap because it pays homage to the song Regulate, by Warren G and Nate Dogg. I love that song! man these hats make part of me wish I was still a full tomboy. I would rock these joints in a min!!!!

Chocolate Thunder from Alabama!!!!

Pierre Conielle said "Real joy comes not from ease or riches or from the praise of men, but from doing something worthwhile."

Well after lastnight's Laker game, I needed some real joy. If you didn't already know, the Lakers lost to the Suns lastnight and now the series is now tied 2-2. I tried to make myself an omelette this morning for breakfast, but that turned out looking about as good as Michael Jackson's 18th nose job....ok, sorry Michael. you know I love you. R.I.P.

So since my breakfast wasn't worthwhile, I decided to make something that's not exactly the healthiest dish I could've prepared, but that contained an ingredient that brings me real joy...CHOCOLATE! If you really know me, then you know that I believe there is no such thing as too much chocolate. So, I decided to make my own version of Outback Steakhouse's Chocolate Thunder from Down Under. Instead, it's the Chocolate Thunder from Alabama. In a way, it's still down under...I guess, since Alabama is in the south lol.

It's basically a warm brownie (this one had walnuts...Mmmmm), topped with vanilla ice cream (Blue Bell ice cream), and hot fudge (Hershey's chocolate syrup). It was really easy to make, and let me tell you, it was DEFINITELY worthwhile. :)

My tunes for today: Nefertiti (center of the universe) - chico debarge

I saw Chico DeBarge perform a medley of songs from his newest album Addiction, and surprisingly, I loved what I heard. So I been rockin to some of the tracks all day. Here's one cut that I really like - Nefertiti. Enjoy ;)

My tunes for today :Mos Def Brown-Sugar (Fine)

I'm sure we're all familiar with this song. Enjoy! :)

Sickness...

Trey Songz or Chris Brown: Who's video was sicker??? I personally think Trey Songz's video for 'Invented Sex' was sicker but I'll let you be the judge of that. You can go to YouTube to watch Trey Songz's video but  in case you haven't seen what all the hoopla is about, here's the link for Chris Brown's new video.

Video Debut: Chris Brown - No Bullshit

It Could All Be So Simple

"Simplicity provides a fine line between eloquence and plainess."

Ok, so I was watching Brown Sugar today, and that quote inspired my lunch. I decided to keep it simple today. The pic above is chicken and four cheese raviolli topped with garlic sauteed baby bella mushrooms and olive oil. And YES I did make it myself. However, that isn't wine...it's cran-grape juice...lol Shoutout to Renita!!!!

TLC??? How about RLC...???

When I say RLC I mean Respect, Love, and Consideration. Chew on that for a minute if you will.
I don't know ANYONE in Huntsville, Alabama except my uncle, my mother, and my mother's boyfriend. I suppose my mother feels bad about this. So, with her being the loving, God-fearing mother that she is, she "suggested" that I go to the youth revival at her church tonight to meet other people around my age. Now, if you know my mother, you know that a "suggestion" isn't a really a suggestion. Meaning, I am now obligated to go.
At first I was totally against attending the revival. Then after some careful thoughts about my life and the person that I am blessed to call "mom", I decided to give it a go. I had to remind myself of all the love, care, and generosity she has thrown my way these past 20 years. A quote I ran across also helped.

"The most powerful lessons about ethics and morality...come from family life where people treat one another with respect, consideration, and love." - Neil Kurshan

This will be my proverb of the day. Since I do love and respect my mother, it was wrong of me to immediately discard the idea of attending the revival without even considering it first. I may actually learn something tonight, and since you do, after all, learn something new everyday, this looks to be just the ticket. Meeting someone would be a plus.
The revival lasts 3 days. I guess I could at least show up ONE day ;)
